I didn’t do an article last week but I did play some Match Play and the Corales Championship. Last week I broke even on Draft, lost on match play and fell a few cents short of breaking even on Corales on DraftKings.

This week the tour moves on to Texas for the Valero Texas Open. The course here is a Par 72 over 7,400 yards. Strokes Gained Off The Tee matters here. There are four Par 5s so we want golfers who can take advantage of those. There’s not a lot of wind this year but there are chances of Thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday. Top 70 and ties move on after the 2nd round. The MDF rule is in effect if more than 78 golfers make the cut.

Here are the key factors I am looking at this week in order of priority:

  • Vegas odds to win
  • Strokes Gained: Approach
  • Strokes Gained: Off The Tee
  • Bogey Avoidance
  • Par 5 Scoring
  • Strokes Gained: Putting
  • Recent Form
  • Course History

Here are the tools that I use this week:

On Draft and Drafters, your primary concern is to draft the best golfers in the field regardless of position. A great way to assess that is to start with Vegas Odds to Win. Then look at the key statistics that are important to you and move golfers up or down as you see fit. Here are my top 10 plays on Draft and Drafters:

  1. Rickie Fowler
  2. Matt Kuchar
  3. Tony Finau
  4. Jordan Spieth
  5. Billy Horschel
  6. Sungjae Im
  7. Jason Kokrak
  8. Jim Furyk
  9. Lucas Glover
  10. Byeong-Hun An

DraftKings & FanDuel Plays

On DraftKings and FanDuel salary is important. A player can be a good player but a bad play on DraftKings or FanDuel because of their price. I’m going to do it a little different this week. I’list of core golfers that you can build your lineups around as well as some golfers that are good as additional pieces for your lineups.

Building Blocks – These are golfers that you can build your lineups around:

  • Rickie Fowler – 11.7k DK 12.5k FD
  • Jason Kokrak – 9.4k DK 11.2k FD
  • Luke List – 8k DK 10.5k FD
  • Joel Dahmen – 7.5k DK 9.3k FD
  • Trey Mullinax – 7.4k DK 9.4k FD
  • Dylan Frittelli – 7.3k DK 9.3K FD

Additional Pieces – These are golfers that you can mix and match into with your lineups.

  • Matt Kuchar – 11.2k DK 12.1K FD
  • Sungjae Im – 10.1k DK 11.1K FD
  • Jim Furyk – 9.6k DK 10.9k FD
  • Daniel Berger – 7.8k DK 9.8k FD
  • Chesson Hadley – 7.3k DK 9.1k FD
  • Wyndham Clark – 7.1k DK 8.7k FD

If you’re looking for more plays check the stats that I listed above and check the spreadsheet that I linked to for more ideas of plays. Good luck!
