Last week, Phil Mickelson was able to overtake Paul Casey to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am finishing with a -19. I didn’t have enough of either and had a number of my high exposure plays miss the cut. It’s not enough to have the right plays. You have to have the right plays in the right combination and that’s what I’ve been missing.
This week, the PGA Tour remains in California. It’s at the Riviera Country Club. This is a challenging course and there’s potentially bad weather to boot. The course is a Par 71 course over 7,300 yards. However, even though it’s long, this isn’t one of those just bomb it off the tee courses. Top 70 and ties advance after the 2nd round. The MDF rule is in effect if more than 78 golfers make the cut.
Here are the key factors that I’m looking at this week in order of priority:
- Vegas odds to win
- Strokes Gained Approach
- Driving Distance
- Bogey Avoidance
- Strokes Gained Putting
- Par 4 Scoring
- Recent Form
- Course History

On Draft, your primary concern is to draft the best golfers in the field regardless of position. A great way to assess that is to start with Vegas Odds to Win. Then look at the key statistics that are important to you and move golfers up or down as you see fit. Here are my top 10 plays on Draft:
- Dustin Johnson
- Justin Thomas
- Bryson Dechambeau
- Jon Rahm
- Rory Mcllroy
- Phil Mickelson
- Xander Schauffele
- Marc Leishman
- Tiger Woods
- Tony Finau
You can also use these plays to spend up on as anchors for your DraftKings and FanDuel lineups if you aren’t sure where to start your build.
Favorite DraftKings & FanDuel Plays
On DraftKings and FanDuel salary is important. A player can be a good player but a bad play on DraftKings or FanDuel because of their price. I like all the players on Draft on DraftKings and FanDuel. My favorite plays out of the top 10 are Bryson, JT, Phil, Leishman and Xander. Here are the plays that I like outside of the top 10:
