Looking for help with your Euroleague lineups? In Roosevelt’s Playbook we provide our recommended plays for DraftKings for today’s Euroleague event!
Welcome to Euroleague Round 8! This week the games are earlier in the week on Tuesday and Wednesday instead of Thursday and Friday. Last week I only played Thursday and my lineups didn’t do well. There was a game that I faded completely because on paper it didn’t look good. However it ended up with one of the highest if not the highest total on the slate.
Today we have a 4 game slate to work with. Let’s take a look at it:
On paper Real Madrid players look like strong plays across the board. They have overwhelming odds to win, the highest implied total on the slate and the best opponent matchup at both the Guard and Forward positions. Fenerbahce Ulker also has a great matchup on paper as well. There’s also several teams with strong matchups at either guard or forward. So there’s lots of different places that we can target this week.
Lets break down the games!
Anadolu Efes vs Maccabi Tel Aviv
The first game kicks off at 12:00pm and features Anadolu Efes Who is a -294 favorite vs Maccabi Tel Aviv who is a +241 underdog. Let’s take a look at the teams:
F Adrien Moerman $10,600 – Not the best matchup from an opposing position standpoint but Moerman has demonstrated a pretty consistent fantasy points range making him a safe play in cash contests with mid 30 GPP upside.
Vasilije Micic G $10,200 – DraftKings has moved Micic over to the guard position. Over the last four games he’s established a floor of around 25 fantasy points with a ceiling of 34 fantasy points. He’s a safe cash play but you’re going to need to nail your punts if he’s going to help you win a GPP.
Rodrigue Beaubois G $9,400 – He is the epitome of a GPP play. He should get you at least 20 minutes but the problem is he has a floor of around 13 fantasy points and at this price that kills your lineup. However, he’s got a ceiling of high 30s which is GPP winning upside in this slate.
Krunoslav Simon G $9,000 – He exceeded 30 fantasy points over the last two games so if he does that again that’s a win at this price. The problem is before that he put up 1 fantasy point for $8,200. Definitely not safe for cash but you can take some shots with him in GPP.
For the 3 guards above please note that Shane Larkin has missed the last two games due to an undisclosed injury. Coach Atalanta said his chances of returning aren’t great but he has not been ruled out. If Larkin does play both Beaubois and Simon become even more risky in GPP. They would still be in play for GPP just added risk. Micic should be fine even with Larkin.
Bryant Dunston F $8,100 – In the most recent Turkey Super Ligi game, the players who tend to get the most minutes in Euroleague didn’t get a lot of minutes in this game. Dunston was one of the players who didn’t get a lot of minutes. He’s gotten 30+ minutes in his last two Euroleague games and has over 26 and 30 fantasy points. That’s outstanding value at this price point. He’s one of my favorite plays on this slate despite the bad opposing position matchup on paper.
Maccabi Tel Aviv
Michael Roll G $8,600 – He’s the cheapest guard out of the three and Ramon Sessions has been released from the team. His floor increases from 10 to 17.25 when you look at games that Sessions was not on the team. While I like him better in GPP than cash, he’s actually fine in both formats.
Tarik Black F $8,000 – He had a poor game last time around but he was coming off an injury and got into foul trouble. I expect him to be back to his normal self this week. In play for both cash and GPP.
Johnny O’Bryant F $7,600 – He got into foul trouble last game, that’s why he didn’t do well. His price has come up quite a bit but I don’t mind him in GPP this week.
Angelo Caloiaro F $7,400 – He’s probably the safest play out of the top 3 priced forwards because he had the best game last week yet his price went down. I’m comfortable rolling him out in either cash or GPP.
Alex Tyus F $6,200 – If you’re looking for a punt at forward, Tyus is what you’re looking for. He’s getting minutes and has scored enough fantasy points not to kill you at this price but yet has GPP winning upside at this price as well. Play with confidence.
Fenerbahce Ulker vs Darussafaka
Our 2nd game on the slate begins at 1:00pm Eastern and features the overwhelming favorite Fenerbahce who is a -1429 favorite against the overwhelming underdog Darussafaka at +778. Fenerbahce Ulker is a nice team to target even in a blowout because they run a much tighter rotation than other Euroleague teams. Darussafaka isn’t in a great spot but there’s a couple of players you can still run out even in a blowout.
Jan Vesely F $10,800 – He missed the last game due to the birth of his baby boy. That was 7 days ago so I’m assuming he’s back. This is a great matchup for him to come back to. Demonstrating a solid floor with GPP winning upside and “baby narrative” for those of you who believe in such things, he’s in play in all formats and I like him a lot for this slate.
Kostas Sloukas G $10,300 – He’s fine as both a cash and GPP play but I like him a little less with Vesely back in the lineup. If I have to pick between the two of them I would much rather pay the extra $500 for Vesely.
Nicolo Melli F $8,500 – He’s definitely a GPP only play as he has a floor of 12 fantasy points but a ceiling of 30. The ceiling is less likely with Vesely back and with a price bump from last week, he’s less attractive than he would be if Vesely missed.
Luigi Datome F $8,400 – He has an even lower floor than Melli but is equal to him in ceiling. He’s actually hit his ceiling even with Vesely in the lineup. GPP play only but I don’t mind him in that format.
Nikola Kalinic F $7,500 – He’s a pretty solid cash play in this price range. He’s really had only one stinker of a game all season. In a plus matchup like this one, I’m absolutely fine with playing him in cash or GPP. He has crushed value in blowouts before.
Joffrey Lauvergne F $7,200 – He’s more of a lower mid-range GPP play in a plus matchup like this one. For the most part, he’s established a floor that won’t kill you, although he did have a really poor game this season. He’s also crushed value twice.
Melih Mahmutoglu G $4,800 – With his game last week in Euroleague along with his last Super Ligi game he’s had two straight games where he’s played more than 25 minutes. He’s a very solid punt in GPP.
Michael Eric F $9,500 – This definitely is a bad matchup for him. However, he’s established a pretty solid 15 floor with mid 30s GPP upside. He’s more of a cash play on this slate than GPP, but you can roll him out in either format.
Jeremy Evans F $7,700 – He missed last week’s Euroleague game but played in Super Ligi game two days ago scoring 12 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. He’s not safe for cash in this matchup, but he’s absolutely in play in GPP.
Berk Demir F $5,500 – Terrible matchup but over the last 4 Euroleague games he’s been consistently in the 15 to 20 minute range for playing time and the 12 to 19 range in fantasy points. That type of consistency is tough to come by in the cheap range, so I’m fine with him as a GPP punt today.
Kartal Ozmizrak G $4,800 – This team doesn’t have a lot of guards. He’s cheap enough that he shouldn’t kill you if the rest of your plays hit, yet has enough upside where he can be a home run play in your lineup. Obviously not safe for cash but you can run him out in GPP.
Byern vs Olympiakos
The third game on the slate begins at 2:30pm Eastern features Byern who is a very small underdog vs Olympiakos who is a very small favorite. Both teams are in good spots here and we can target both sides of this game. Since we’re short on time, I’m just going to list the players I like for each team and I’ll provide reasoning after initial lock.
Nihad Dedovic G $9,800 – Cash and GPP.
Devin Booker F $9,100 – GPP
Stefan Jovic G $8,700 – Cash and GPP.
Vladimir Lucic F $7,800 – Cash and GPP
Derrick Williams F $7,700 – GPP
Danilo Barthel F $6,800 – Cash & GPP
Petteri Koponen G $6,500 – GPP
Maodo Lo G $6,200 – GPP
Nemanja Dangubic G $4,600 – GPP
Braydon Hobbs G $3,800 – GPP
Georgios Printezis F $10,000 – Cash & GPP
Nigel Williams-Goss G $9,000 – Cash & GPP
Nikola Milutinov F $8,900 – GPP
Kostas Papanikolaou F $6,900 – GPP
Zach Leday F $5,600 – GPP
Janis Timma F $4,400 – GPP
Real Madrid vs Gran Canaria
The fourth and final game on the slate begins at 3:00pm Eastern and features the heavily favorite powerhouse Real Madrid taking on the heavily underdog Gran Canaria. Real Madrid is in the best spot on the slate. One thing to keep in mind though is that Trey Thompkins is close to returning. If he comes back this game, this reduces the value of the forward options for Real Madrid. Gran Canaria is in a really bad spot for guards but Forwards are definitely in play
Gustavo Ayon F $10,400 – Cash & GPP
Anthony Randolph F $9,900 – Cash & GPP
Walter Tavares F $8,600 – GPP
Facundo Campazzo G $8,300 – Cash & GPP
Rudy Fernandez F $7,900 – GPP
Jaycee Carroll G $6,600 – Cash & GPP
Fabien Causeur F $5,900 – GPP
Christopher Evans F $8,500 – Cash & GPP
Anzejs Pasecniks F $7,300 – Cash & GPP
Eulis Baez F $7,000 – Cash & GPP
Ondrej Balvin F $4,500 – GPP
