Euroleague is back! Week one of the season has come and gone. Now that we have at least one game completed for each team, we have a little more data to work with. My first week playing Euroleague was a complete failure. However, I expected that considering I didn’t have a lot of data to work with. Hopefully this week will be better!
Today’s slate is a four game slate. Here’s a breakdown of the 8 teams along with the key statistics that I look at for each team. Included are their odds to win, their implied offensive total, how well their opponent defends against the guard position and how well their opponent defends against the forward position. When building your lineups you want to ideally target a favorite team that has a high implied total with players that play positions where their opponent has a low rank for how they guard that position. It’s a 1 to 16 scale 16 means they give up a lot to that position 1 means they limit that position.
Buducnost +230 underdog 73.75 implied total 9th guard rank 13th forward rank
Darussafaka -280 favorite 80.25 implied total 4th guard rank 9th forward rank
CSKA Moscow -345 favorite 88 implied total 10th guard rank 12th forward rank
Maccabi Tel Aviv +275 underdog 80.5 implied total 1st guard rank 14th forward rank
Panathinaikos -220 favorite 80.75 implied total 6th guard rank 8th forward rank
Bayern +180 underdog 75.75 implied total 13th guard rank 15th forward rank
FC Barcelona -260 favorite 86.25 implied total 2nd guard rank 16th forward rank
Grab Canaria +210 underdog 80.25 implied total 13th guard rank 10th forward rank
So now, let’s take a look at the players that we want to consider on this slate:
Top Tier Guards
Nick Calathes $12,800 – Cash play lock. He was the highest owned player on his slate last week and the second highest in fantasy points scored. High GPP exposure as well. He was in the winning GPP lineup last week.
Nando de Colo $11,200 – He’s fine for cash plays but for GPP I would limit him to a light pivot off of Calathes.
Thomas Heurtel $10,800 – He’s fine for cash. Like him better than de Colo for GPP but still as a light pivot off Calathes only.
Sergio Rodriguez $10,300 – Fine for cash. Like him better than de Colo but not as much as Heurtel for GPP. Light pivot off Calathes.
Cory Higgins $9,900 – Fine for cash. He’s my favorite play out of the three CSK guards but it’s tough to pick which one of the three will go off. Use him as a pivot off Calathes.
Ray McCallum $9,700 – He’s a great play for both cash and GPP. He was in the winning GPP lineup last week. Play with confidence.
Scottie Wilbekin $9,000 – His price jumped up almost $3,000 but he’s still a solid play at this price in both Cash and GPP. He was the highest fantasy point scorer on the slate last week. Feel free to go back to the well this week.
Mid Tier Guards
Nihad Dedovic $7,500 – He’s not safe for cash with such a huge price jump and playing for an underdog with the second lowest implied total. However, I don’t mind taking some shots in GPP and hoping for a repeat performance. He got like no ownership last week and while he may get some this week I still don’t expect him to be highly owned.
Clevin Hannah $7,100 – If you are looking for a cash play in the mid tier he’s the guy I would go with. He met 3x value last week, which is good in Euroleague despite poor shooting from the field. If his shot falls this week he could do even better.
Value Tier Guards
Stefan Jovic $6,200 – He crushed value last week and I see no reason why he can’t do it again. I don’t like the implied total but the matchup is good. He’s also still cheap. Good for cash and GPP.
Nikola Ivanovic $4,200 – He crushed value last week and his price goes down? Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Just put him in your lineup and keep it moving.
Top Tier Forwards
Will Clyburn $10,500 – He’s a solid play for both cash and GPP. He was in the winning GPP lineup last week and was one of the top fantasy point producers at the Forward position. Great play again this week.
Chris Singleton $10,000 – He’s a solid play for cash however he’s not a must play. His price went up and he’s going to need to shoot better this time around to exceed value this week. He has a fantastic matchup on paper though.
Kevin Seraphin $9,300 – His price has gone up but like his teammate Chris he has a fantastic matchup on paper plus he’s cheaper. Feel free to play in all formats.
Mid Tier Forwards
Deshaun Thomas $8,700 – I don’t like the jump in price but I don’t mind him as a pivot GPP play. The matchup is decent and if he can shoot better from the field this time around he could potentially exceed value.
Earl Clark $8,000 – Clark went off last week and his price didn’t go up that much at all. He’s my favorite play at the Forward position. Play him freely in all formats.
Kyle Hines $7,700 – He’s a solid Cash play with some GPP upside. Definitely someone you want to look at in all formats this week.
Victor Claver $7,400 – Adam Hanga is questionable this week. If he ends up missing again, fire up Claver this week.
Value Tier Forwards
Matt Lojeski $6,400 – He went off last week and even though his price shot up I don’t mind playing him again this week in all formats.
Tarik Black $6,100 – He was just way too cheap last week and was one of the highest owned players on his slate. While he’s not way too cheap this week he’s still at a price worth deploying. Fire up Black again in all formats.
Devin Booker $5,800 – This is not the Suns guard but he’s definitely someone that you want to consider for all formats this week.
Alen Omic $5,500 – He did well in his debut and didn’t get that big of a price increase. He’s definitely in play for all formats this week.
Christopher Evans $5,300 – I wouldn’t play him in cash because Marcus Eriksson is suppose to be ahead of him in the depth chart. However, coming off knee surgery it looks like they are limiting his playing time at the beginning and if that’s the case you definitely want some Evans. He’s a GPP play for me this week.
Stanton Kidd $5,200 – He played the third most minutes on his team and has a decent matchup this week. Plus his price only went up by $400. I like Kidd in all formats this week.
Angelo Caloiaro $4,400 – He played well last week and is still priced pretty cheaply. I don’t mind him as a GPP play this week.
Oriol Pauli $4,100 – He played well last week and his price actually went down. He’s a GPP play only for me this week but definitely someone I plan on getting in at least some lineups.
