MLB Roosevelt’s Lineup Card: Friday June 29th 2018

Update: Jacob DeGrom has been scratched. Do not use him and ignore everywhere where he is mentioned in this article. With DeGrom out I now like Dietrich, Anderson, Realmuto and Bour on the Marlins.

So yesterday I played light because I didn’t really like the slate.  Good thing I did because I only had one of my 5 GPP lineups cash. Today, I like this slate so I will be back to my normal volume and playing on all three sites.

My rankings are based on the following criteria:

  • Vegas implied offensive totals and team moneyline.
  • Pitching stats for pitchers I want to play and pitchers I want to pick batters against (i.e. SIERA, K% BB% GB% FB% HC%)
  • Team hitting wOBA verses the handedness of the pitcher they are facing.
  • Individual hitting stats verses the handedness of the pitcher they are facing (i.e. wOBA, ISO, K%, BB%, SB, LD%, GB%, FB%)
  • Stadium tendencies (Hitter Ball Park vs Pitcher Ball Park)
  • Weather
  • Position Scarcity (Snake Drafts Only)
  • Salary (Salary cap sites only)

We have a 15 game slate with all evening games. There’s one early evening game that starts at 5:05pm. The rest start at 7:05pm and later.

Drafters Plays

New to Drafters? Get a $10 free credit and a 50% bonus match on your first deposit up to $100

Here are my top 10 plays on Drafters:

  • Mike Trout – CF
  • Paul Goldschmidt – 1B
  • Adrian Beltre – 3B
  • Yoan Moncada – 2B
  • Elvis Andrus – SS
  • Evan Gattis – C
  • Shin-Soo Choo – RF
  • Teoscar Hernandez – LF/RF (Draft LF only)
  • Jacob DeGrom – P
  • Eric Thames – 1B

RF and P are loaded today so those are the last positions I am trying to fill in my drafts. I would focus on getting the other two OF spots filled then working on the infield once you get past the top 10.

Here are my top 10 plays on Draft:

  • Jacob DeGrom  – P
  • Trevor Bauer – P
  • Gerrit Cole – P
  • Mike Trout – OF
  • Shin-Soo Choo – OF
  • Paul Goldschmidt  – IF
  • Eric Thames – IF
  • Aaron Judge – OF
  • Mookie Betts – OF
  • Adrian Beltre– IF

While this is my top 10 list if you are playing head to head or 3 person contests I would recommend waiting until the 5th round to draft a pitcher and taking the best available. In larger contests if you are unable to get one of the top 3 pitchers I would wait until the 5th round to take a pitcher. After the top 10 are gone I would address OF first and then IF as IF is deeper than OF tonight.

DraftKings Plays

For DraftKings I like the following tonight:

Pitchers

  • Jacob DeGrom
  • Gerrit Cole
  • Trevor Bauer
  • Rich Hill
  • Felix Pena
  • Marcos Gonzalez

While I won’t be playing them I have no problems with Patrick Corbin, Nick Pivetta, Miles Mikolas, Joe Musgrove and Sandy Alcantara. I’m not thrilled about it but if you want to gamble with Eduardo Rodriguez or CC Sabathia I won’t talk you out of it. If I didn’t mention their name I do not recommend you play them,

These are the individual bats you can build around tonight:

  • Mike Trout – OF
  • Shin-Soo Choo – OF
  • Paul Goldschmidt – 1B
  • Eric Thames – OF
  • Justin Upton – OF
  • Ian Kinsler – 2B
  • Travis Shaw – 3B
  • Avisal Garcia – OF
  • Luis Valbuena – 3B
  • Nick Ahmed – SS

These are the teams you can target for batters tonight:

  • LA Angels both sides. Batting practice tonight entire lineup is in play.
  • White Sox both sides. Batting practice tonight entire lineup is in play.
  • Texas both sides. Target batters with GB% less than 45% or wOBA .350 or better. However you can play anybody in this lineup if you need to.
  • Toronto both sides are in play. However righties with a GB% less than 45% or wOBA .350 or better is the sweet spot.
  • Cincinatti both sides are in play. Focus on lefties or righties with a wOBA of .350 or better.
  • Milwaukee both sides are in play. Focus on lefties or righties with a GB% less than 45% or wOBA .350 or better.
  • Seattle both sides are in play. Batting practice tonight.
  • Baltimore lefties in play only. I would fade all righties except Machado who I would only play in GPP.
  • St Louis both sides are in play but the lefties have a much better matchup.
  • Philadelphia both sides are in play. Focus on lefties or righties with a GB% less than 45% or a wOBA of .350 or better
  • NY Yankees both sides in play but GPP only. I would fade in cash.
  • Boston both sides in play but GPP only. I would fade in cash.
  • Cleveland both sides in play but GPP only. I would fade in cash.
  • Washington lefties in play but GPP only. I would fade in cash.

I would fade all other team hitters tonight. Much better matchups what I have listed above.

Good luck!
